Basic Consumption of Men’s T-Shirt Calculator

What is Basic Consumption of Men’s T-Shirts?

Basic Consumption of men’s t-shirts refers to the amount of fabric required to produce one dozen men’s t-shirts. It is calculated based on the length, width, and GSM (grams per square meter) of the fabric used in manufacturing.

Men’s T-Shirt Consumption Calculator

Formula:

CPD  =L x W x GSM x 12 /1,00,00,000 kg

How to Use the Men’s T-Shirt Consumption Calculator?

  1. Enter the length of the t-shirt (in centimeters) in the “Length” field.
  2. Enter the width of the t-shirt (in centimeters) in the “Width” field.
  3. Enter the GSM (grams per square meter) of the fabric in the “GSM” field.
  4. Click the “Calculate” button to determine the consumption per dozen (CPD) in kilograms.
  5. Click the “Refresh” button to reset the calculator and enter new values.

CPD (Consumption Per Dozen) for Sleeve:

✓ Length = 25 cm (Sleeve Length) + 5 cm [In Sleeve Hem Sewing Allowance = 3 cm (Seam Allowance = 2 cm + Sewing Allowance 1 cm) + In Armhole Sewing Allowance = 2 cm]

= 30 cm

✓ Width = 20 cm + 20 cm = 40 cm (Armhole) + 3 cm (In Side Seam Sewing Allowance = 1.5 cm + 1.5 cm)

= 43 cm

CPD = L×W× GSM x 12 /1,00,00,000 Kg

          =30 × 43 × 2 ×170 x 12 /1,00,00,000 kg

         = 0.53 kg (Two Sleeve)

CPD (Consumption Per Dozen) for Neck (Rib):

If Body & Sleeve Fabric is 165 170 GSM then

Neck (Rib) Fabric will be (165~170 GSM + 40

GSM) 215~220 GSM

– Length = 21 cm + 21 cm = 42 cm (Neck) + 3 cm [Sewing Allowance (Seam Allowance = 2 cm + Sewing Allowance =1 cm)] = 45 cm

Width = 2 cm + 2 cm = 4 cm (Height) + 3 cm [Sewing Allowance (1.5 cm + 1.5 cm)] = 7 cm

CPD (Consumption Per Dozen) for Neck (Rib)

CPD =L×W× GSM x 12

/ 1,00,00,000

       =45 x 7 x 220 x 12 /1,00,00,000 kg

      = 0.083 kg

    = 0.1 kg (Neck)

  • Generally 100 gm/dz Fabric Used for Round Neck (Rib) and 150 gm/dz Fabric Used for V-Neck (Rib).
  • Total Consumption = (1.67 kg+0.53 kg+0.10 kg) + 5~ 7% Add for Wastage  = 2.41 kg

Points to be Considered:

A. Measurement:

1) HPSL (High Point Shoulder Length)

2) Chest or 1⁄2 chest

3) Armhole

4) Sleeve Length

B. Seam Allowance + Sewing Allowances:

C. Fabric GSM: 165~170 GSM

CPD (Consumption Per Dozen) for Garment (Body + Sleeve):

  • Length = 77 cm [{72 cm (HPSL) + 5 cm (seam/sewing allowances)} + 30 cm {25 cm

(Sleeve Length) + 5 cm ( seam/sewing allowances) x 2}]

= 137 cm

  • Width =100 cm (Chest) + 6 cm (seam/sewing allowances)

= 106 cm

CPD  =L x W x GSM x 12 /1,00,00,000 kg

          =137 x 106 x 170 x 12 /1,00,00,000 kg

          = 2.96 kg

          = 2.96 kg + (7% to 10%) of 2.96 [excess for wastage]

CPD (Consumption Per Dozen) for Collar & Cuff

1) Collar (Per dz = 12 Pcs)

2) Cuff (Per dz = 24 Pcs)

3) We can use 400 gm (Collar) + 300 gm (Cuff) = 700 gm Fabric for per dz polo Shirt

4) Generally on an average 700 to 750 gm/dz Fabric used for Collar & Cuff (Include Wastage).

Collar (400 gm)

Cuff (300 gm)

Total (700 gm)

Application of Basic Consumption of Men’s T-Shirt Calculator:

This calculator is useful for textile manufacturers, designers, and apparel businesses to accurately estimate the amount of fabric needed for producing men’s t-shirts in bulk. By using the CPD calculation, manufacturers can optimize fabric usage, reduce waste, and improve production efficiency, leading to cost savings and sustainable manufacturing practices.
